the right tool for specific issues Feb 10, 2010 This is NOT the collar that you would use to call your dog to you or to stop it from barking. If your dog can hear, there are better ways of training him/her. This is the PERFECT tool for deaf dogs, or elderly dogs that are losing their hearing. All this collar is meant to do is to get the dog's attention so that you can then give your dog a visual command. there is no opportunity to harm your dog by accidentally hitting a shock option. it might also work for dogs with some OCD behaviors to break their concentration while flank sucking, spinning, etc. it is NOT meant to be a penalty. for the VERY reasonable cost, this is a great find!

Didn't even slow down my dog Dec 06, 2007 My 19 lb shih-tzu mix dog had a surprised look the first time he went to chase the cat, but then ignored the vibration. It didn't bother him at all. I found that teaching the command "Off!" or doing Cesar Milan's "Tssst!" command worked much better at teaching the dog to NOT go after or do something.
