Worked for my pitbull after only minor use Jul 18, 2010 I have a pitbull and wanted to make sure that she had no issues. I have an unfenced yard that she never leaves even when she is unattended. She never bites and doesn't even play bite. I have a 3 month old son so this was important. I can walk her in the dog park without a leash. She listens to all my commands. Can I contribute all of this to the collar? Probably not, but it also comes with a basic training book as well. Just remember to be consistent, use the same command phrases as all people in the household and when the dog is on the leash don't let it walk you. Keep the dog close and behind you if he tries to pull. The batteries die off fast.
Attention getter Jul 05, 2010 I have a 14 month "puppy' at 115 pounds and she was abusive to my other dogs. This collar got her attention and she is now "socialized" and gets along with the older dogs. Worked as advertised.

OK for a Budget Collar Jun 25, 2010 I purchased this collar after my Dogtra collar stopped recharding after 5 years of use. The Dogtra is more expensive so I opted for a less expensive collar but found with the SportDog that I did not care for the use of batteries. I had difficulty inserting the batteries (thin 3V's) in the collar, one of which did not "click in" properly and became lost within the mechanism. I am sure it was user error but still... now the unit will not work with two fresh batteries. When it did work, it was ok but I prefer the Dogtra. The batteries lasted about 6 months with minimal use as I only put the collar on my lab when we are expecting company.
Wow! May 26, 2010 Wow! I have a black and tan coon hound, 2 years old, about 50 plus or minus pounds, I had gotten him when he was about a year old from the Animal Shelter, he just looked so lost there! He had, had no training at all...and was really concerned this wasn't going to do the trick with him and wished I'd gotten this in the hound version...however, this really did work for the house and yard; hound version will be good for longer distances; now, Down, from the sofa has some punch to it...not to mention the bad behavior of jumping up on you and not coming on command but whenever he felt like it...Wow! and his safe place now is really at my side, no other place in the yard....the tone really gets his attention and the 5 setting was too low, 6 seems to be the setting for him...now maybe we can go on some of those long walks I dreamed of....:) The lease that comes with it broke after he made one tug...he's very powerful...now to stop those sudden bolts...this is just after about a hour of training today! I really am impressed!
I now have the best dog Apr 12, 2010 This product is awesome. I love that is has such a large range. I can go in the house and leave him outside for a minute. Most of the time he stays in the yard, but if he does wander I can just give him a warning beep and back he comes. My dog used to jump on every one and never listen. He doesn't jump anymore and now knows sit, come, and drop. Now I just need to break the stuffed animal habit which is coming along just fine. I started noticing a difference the first day it came. Also we went swimming the next day and I was a little nervous since it was a little expensive but figured since it said waterproof I could send it back. Not needed, my dog jumped in the river and swam around for hours and it still works. This is def worth every penny!
