awesome Apr 28, 2010 This product is the only thing that really works. My cats are really aware of the cans now, they stay away from the area.
Didn't work on my kittens - would need a lot of them Feb 16, 2010 Having a couple of new kittens in the house, I thought that there must be some sort of kitty deterrent that was easier than keeping spray bottles or water pistols constantly in hand (which would only work when I'm home and in the same room). So I thought that there must be some automated device to do this, and thus I searched the net and found this.
I had high hopes, and indeed, the first one or two times each of the kittens got "blasted", they scampered right off the counter and I had a great laugh (one point for the owner!!).
However, it wasn't very long at all before they simply got accustomed to the hiss and realized it wasn't harmful, and now it has no effect. The kittens (4-5 months old) now freely climb on the counter where the ssscat is and in fact sniff around it, almost as if they enjoy getting it to hiss (they've learned to get out of the line of fire). I wonder if part of the problem is that the pressure from the blast does not travel very far. Unless I am doing something wrong, it can't be felt from more than about two feet away.
Even if it did in fact work, it would only cover one portion of a counter, or one top of a dresser, etc, so to protect my whole townhouse with these would require something like 5 to 10 of these detectors, if the range of each of them is only a foot or so. And the place would look pretty strange with these canisters all over the place, and the humans would end up getting blasted as much as the cats.
This is again very disappointing because I thought with today's technology there would be a better answer - perhaps something that emits a high-pitched shriek, or controls something a little more powerful than a tiny little inert gas canister. Perhaps in a year or two this company or some another one will invest in some more engineering and come up with a better product. It certainly seems like a fascinating application of engineering technology.

Best Ever -- Love It Dec 30, 2009 Have tried many, many other products and this is the Top of the Line. Works well.... very well even when empty..........
Move the can to another spot and the cat remembers that previous area is off limits.

Love Ssscat! Saved my vents! Nov 30, 2009 My cats kept peeing in the vents. I tried every other keep away system I could think of. I tried covering the vents, moving furniture over them...nothing worked. But then I tried the ssscat system. Works like a charm. I've had it for a couple of years now and I'm thrilled that they've brought the price of the cans down. Wonderful item.

This saved my carpet! Nov 22, 2009 I work at a pet supply store and have access to many kinds of animal deterrants. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, has worked as well as the Ssscat system! I've told LOTS of my customers about this product and they have reported back to me the same kind of results that I personally had. My only two regrets is that, one, I can't sell this thing door to door and reap some of the profit. And, two, that I didn't invent it!
