4Training My Doberman  Dec 12, 2009
By Satchmo "Satch"
My Doberman was giving me problems that neither I nor a professional trainer were able to correct. She would do something knowing fully well that it was wrong but would run behind a tree, coffee table etc and play keep away to avoid punishment and by the time we could catch up to the dog too much time had expired for the dog to understand what the corrections were for. The dog also wanted to chase cars, kids etc and was too hard headed to understand the meaning of NO. Now with the collar I tell her NO once then if she does not correct she gets a zap. If she tries to play keep away she still can not escape the punishment. I find when I zap her she stops and looks backwards wondering where that came from and as time goes by I have decreased the level of correction..The dog is used to the collar now and with the collar on or just the sight of me holding the transmitter (without collar on) is enough for her to instantly stop bad behavior and comply. I am very happy with this product and recommend it.

5Great Product  Mar 04, 2010
By Mark Cashioli "cashmandu"
This product works just as it is supposed to. I taught my dog to heel when on on the leash before I bought this, but there's just too much freedom when he is off leash and he eventually takes off. When I can't get him to return by yelling "Heel !", I use the tone as a warning (which is not the way the instructions tell you), and if he does not return I hit the correction button. So far, so good, and I have not gone above correction level 2. Battery life seems great as I have not recharged it yet and I'm pretty certain I have left it on over night a few times.

1Poor Quality, Great Concept  Apr 18, 2011
By S. Marsh
The concept is great. It REALLY helped discipline a hard-to-train dog.

However, the quality is poor. We actually purchased two (two dogs) and within a month one of the charging connectors was bent. Every time I wanted to charge it, I had to get out a steak knife and straighten the prongs out. They eventually broke off completely and that is how that collar broke.

Also, BOTH collars had problems with the on/off button jamming. After about 2-3 months (with part-time use) I had to jam a pen in the button to turn it on/off. This worked for a few weeks until the pother collar eventually jammed completely and now cannot be turned, that is how the second collar broke.

Overall, incredibly disappointed with the quality. With this price, I expected MUCH better. I am emailing the company today to see if they will replace them (and will update this review). However, I am still concerned because both collars had the exact problems in just a few months. We always made sure the take care of them as this was an investment over our budget. Also, we only used them part-time, I am sure they would have lasted less than 2-3 months with regular use.

5Most affordable 'Invisible fence' for large yards  Jan 10, 2012
By MK
So you just have to keep an eye on them, but it saved me $7,000 vs installing an invisible fence, or some other $ amount for a real fence which I don't want anyway.

I also wanted my dog to get good exercise without me having to constantly chase him around my 1.5 acres with a leash.

It's also GREAT for hikes... we went on a 4 hr hike crossing creeks and up/down very steep terrain. That's dangerous with a leash, this was KEY. It's very waterproof (it's seen hours in the ocean waves in North Carolina, collar and the remote. I would even swim with the remote in hand fully under saltwater.)

>> Saves their lives >> Just the other day I let my dog out back, and some loud fireworks scared him... he decided to run out front towards a 45mph (more like 60-70mph) street 200 feet away. On level 2 with the remote (rarely need to go above) he stops in his tracks, still scared from the noise and sort of circles around with his head down. Then he realizes he should follow my voice and comes right inside. He's scared of most loud noises.

Golden rule, never turn your back. You cannot predict the day they decide to "forget" or get scared or chase a deer.

It works even if you are in the house (I have brick house) and your dog is 600 feet away (I've not tested any further.)

68lb Black Lab/hound mix. Keep the collar tight, just like the directions. It does not hurt their neck. Even a bit loose and you will end up bumping up a few levels to get a reaction which is not fair to your dog. Level 1 works well for our dog as a quiet warning, he does not yelp, barely reacts... but he stops whatever he's doing 80% of the time. Level 2 and he know he's doing something wrong, sometimes you hear chirp. It's been great to teach our pet the boundaries of the yard. We've noticed a HUGE improvement in our dogs confidence as he's able to explore, and get more exercise many times during each day.

It even taught him to sit or lay in the yard when a car is coming down the driveway (correct them if they run towards the vehicle, they won't do it again). Unfortunately dog's can't decipher sentences to explain why they shouldn't do something.... they understand this weird feeling on their neck though!

Tip: Use this and the Nite Ize light for their collar for night-time outings. 2 football fields away with a black dog, no matter how good the lighting.. I can't freaking see him! The light is awesome, you can relax near the window.. the light is clearly visible for loong distance, 600ft is the furthest he goes. I'd say the light would be visible at about 1000 ft easy just from experience.

5mom of many....kids and dogs  Mar 15, 2010
By T. Wood "the forest"
Works wonderfully! Love the rechargeable capability. The only problem encountered was that the collar is for a large dog, yet it couldn't or didn't work on my long haired dog. I don't remember seeing an option for longer prongs. Maybe the dog was too contrary (that she is). I think with longer prongs that this collar will work on her as well as it does my other two dogs.
